I'd give this little guy 100 stars if I could! This auspicious three legged Money Frog, Wealth Frog, or Lucky Frog, is one of the five chinese holy creatures that offers protection against misfortune and enriches a household in wealth. Placing a Lucky Money Frog in the household dispels evil and attracts wealth according to ancient Feng Shui beliefs. Who am I to argue with ancient Chinese practices? ;)The round base of this Money Frog measures 5 inches across, but the actual Frog himself measures about 5-1/2 inches head to tail, and 5-1/2 inches across his front legs (side-to-side). He looks and feels like brass - well made, very heavy and sturdy. He comes with brass I ching coins - five tied together with a red cord - and a couple of loose coins in a red bag. You want to insert either the string of coins, or a single coin, in his mouth with the yang four Chinese symbols facing upwards - this is the side with 4 symbols. The other side has two Chinese letters, and it goes downward. The coin(s) in his mouth represents an offering for the owner or the household where the frog resides. This Money Frog has the traditional red eyes sitting on a pile of traditional Chinese I-Ching coins which represents wealth. He is already activated from the seven red plastic jewels glued on his back that symbolize stars of Ursa Major. They are the essential part of the Chinese Elemental Astrology. One of the gems arrived hanging loose off his back so I applied some Elmer's glue and so far so good! If your frog does not have the red jewels on his back then you can activate him by tying a red ribbon around him or placing him on a red piece of paper.Money Frogs can cost as little as $5 for a small resin frog, upwards to hundreds of dollars. At $44 this Lucky Frog is likely as nice as the more expensive frogs I found.Feng Shui is all about creating good energy, so for me, this fella represents an attitude and a belief that all things work together for the good for those who aspire toward God's purpose (VERY roughly translated from Romans 8:28).His Chinese name is Chan Chu, which translates as Money Frog. Instead of two hind legs, he has the tail of the tadpole. In Christianity, the three stages of the frog - the egg, tadpole and amphibian - symbolize spiritual evolution. It is believed this special frog personifies the moon. Its three legs are thought to be three moon phases - associated with monetary gain, wealth, and good health. This mythical creature is said to appear every full moon near homes that will receive good news of increased wealth. And from my own experience, you might not see him but only hear him, so stay alert. ;)It is said that 19th century Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg insisted on rubbing the lucky frog he kept in his pocket before every one of his concerts.Traditionally, the money frog is placed in a home's feng shui money area or wealth position. In traditional feng shui school, the wealth or money area is considered to be the southeast corner of your home or office space, using the Bagua energy map based on compass directions. However, in the Western or BTB feng shui school, the money area is the upper left area of your space as viewed from a floorplan perspective. This is usually the corner of the home that is diagonally left opposite the entry door and is known as the primary wealth position. But you can also place him close to the front door, as I did. Diagonally is best if possible. It is important that he looks inside the house rather than facing out through the entrance or money will flow out of the house rather than into it. You can also place a money frog so that it faces your Money and Success corner. (I'm including links in the comments that explains some of this better.)This fella has definately become my lucky frog, and I like to give him an occasional loving stroke or pat when I walk past in appreciation. He's so pretty it's hard to resist! It is said you should "show him respect" so you don't want to place him in a disrespectful location like on the floor or where people might notice him and perhaps chuckle. You also don't want to place him too high up because money flows downward into the pocket or purse, not upwards.Continuing... (can you tell I did some research? Lol!) Keep him away from any windows, and do not put him in a bathroom, bedroom or kitchen. You can place Lucky Frogs in 3's around your house but I recommend looking up the best locations for multiple frogs. You can add one, three, six or up to nine Lucky Frogs in all. They can also go in your garden. You might find some conflicting information regarding all of this, but I tried to stick with what I found to be most consistent. I also found an occasional article or YouTube video that was flat-out wrong, therefore you might want to look for confirmation before accepting one viewpoint. So, does he work? Absolutely! Within two weeks of getting my Lucky Money Frog an amazing opportunity came my way - and I have been praying and pressing-in for five years for a more positive outlook to my financial future that allows me to follow my purpose and dreams into retirement. :-DBlessings for everyone looking for good fortune.
